FUN BUN BAKERY
By Kirry Nelson
Fun Bun Bakery is in its fifth year of business baking breads and
sweets in Taos, NM. Founder and baker David Vargo
has been slowly expanding his small business over the years and
now sells his products in markets and cafes in Taos and Los Alamos.
He bakes his goodies at the Taos County Economic Development Corporation’s
Community Kitchen, and he features breads, rolls, cookies,
sticky buns, breadsticks, and several spelt and gluten-free options.
David likes incorporating as many local ingredients as possible,
with the priority being the Sangre de Cristo wheat flour grown and
milled
in the New Mexico / Colorado border region. He frequently sources
local farmers’ herbs and onions to add to his breads.
And, Fun Bun features more than 90% organic ingredients. You can
find Fun Bun Bakery at the Taos Farmers Market every Saturday
during the market season and at the Los Alamos summer and winter
Farmer’s Markets. Cid’s Food Market in Taos has recently
expanded the Fun Bun
bread selection, and the sweets can be found in various cafes throughout
the region.
